Most accidents and falls take place in the home, and national statistics reveal that rates of unintentional injury are higher amongst children from lower socio-economic groups.
Accidents remain a leading cause of death and injury to children and young people and interestingly the level of unintentional injury occurring on education establishment sites accounts for second overall location.
In Gloucestershire the level of accidents and injuries is significant but in terms of deaths the greater risk group is the 65 and over.
